  Do any of you born into the cult feel like your mental growth was stunted?

  being born in to me was devastating.

  when you are a child born in and raised with the they vs us and they are evil and worldly and going to die.

  not allowed to form relationships with anyone not one of you.

  Raised. Think mom was pimo even then. I did get to some birthdays, trick treat, flag was a but tricky, I usually just stoop with arm not exactly at side

  We did do some HOT dates way back when, but there was a inhibition to some things, which may not have been all bad. Buddies mother took me under her wing so I got a realistic look at Xmas and putting up tree decorations, and some other "worldly pursuits. Married in, a GOOD one, been through some trying times which show true character, and we buckled down and supported each other I do not think it was religion that helped us as much as Good character

  I had a different gf, which didn't work out because if the low income hobble we were all put into but my wife was in all probability the better one anyway. Few regrets over lots of it; wish I had gone into military, but friends who did were disillusioned and my personality well may gotten me killed (vietnam)

  607 date of Jerusalems destruction

  i am confused about the time scale regarding the year of the destruction of jerusalem.

  in the 1st october 2011 watchtower an argument is presented to back up 607 bc but there are so many conflicting arguments that this happened 20 years later according to secular sources.

  your thoughts please..

  Millions in Christendom Around The World Identify as Christians & Never Go To Church.

  i would hazard a guess that their are thousands who profess to be jehovah`s witnesses around the world who only attend the memorial ,marriages or funerals.

  never to be seen at other times of the year.and certainly give no support monetary or otherwise.. which explains the difference in active jw`s around 8 million as against the memorial attendance of about 20 million .. with even a third of these 8 million withdrawing their support say in the next 5 years how many of those extra 12 million hangers on would drop away.?.

  i know this is all speculation ,but isn`t the trend already here that the writing is on the wall for the eventual demise of the jw religion as we know it today ?.

  Census shows more than wt numbers. There are lots of nominal Christians who have a background from family ties. As for TV guys, they rank from local well meaning preachers to full blown moneygrubbers. In society there are good people who minister (broad sense) to others in need, even some or them are other or no affiliation

  What you need to consider is continuing practices. I remember corded mikes being passed down the row, talk about a mess, then came the poles. Once upon a time we just spoke loud with no amplification.

  this weeks meeting features a video about maintaining kingdom halls.

  it mentions a few times, how kh belong to jehovah, and are dedicated to him.. anybody ever wondered, if they belong to jehovah, how come, they are being sold all the time?

  Ours now needs a new roof, carpet , seats paving repair; all on our dime. Guess what happened to the cushion money that had been set aside? And now if I even want to pick up trash or for a small repair it has to be approved by the committee and I have to be "trained

  the longer i’m out the more i feel that disfellowshipping is cruel.

  i understand the organization tells parents to not even accept emails or texts from their disfellowshipped children.

  while i was a witness they tried to discourage families from association but there was some leeway if it was considered necessary business to interact.

  Due process doesn't play into it. Some committees go on witch hunts others do everything to cover up things for favorites. As for being liberating, how is a 14 year old being kicked from home for in? And I have seen this "encouraged" by powerful elders

  Kingdom Hall Renovation

  hi all, quick question related to renovating k halls.. my in-laws live in another city and the two congs there are in a ten week process of completely renovating the hall.

  the plaster board has been taken off, all the toilets and air cons even the roofing iron and insulation are being pulled out and dumped to be totally replaced.

  it seems like overkill to say the least.
